60 days MVP

Together with our partners we launch dozen of successful products a year. Take a peek at how that journey begins.

What does MVP mean in 2022

This is the first thing you can give, to the very first set of users you want to target, in order to see if you can deliver any value at all to them.
Michael Seibel
Managing Director @ Y Combinator
In today’s world, the quality expected even by the earliest of adopters is higher than it has ever been. This has raised the bar of what an MVP or, in other words, the first version of a product needs to deliver, in order to acquire and retain its first customers.

Our hacks for building an MVP fast

Defining the specs sheet
List all features: must-have essentials first, wish-list features second and so on

Time boxing the specs
Depending on how feature heavy the MVP should be we like timeboxing between 60 to 90 days

Trimming the specs
Trim down the feature list in order to fit into the time box and launch version 1.0 of the product)

Don’t fall in love with the MVP
The MVP should have just enough features to get customer feedback and be a base to iterate from, it will always change - as it should

Striking a perfect
balance between
speed & quality

In order to deliver within a limited time scope the quality that is expected from the earliest adopters of the startups we launch, we carefully architect our partner’s products utilising every available ready-made API service on the internet, always taking into consideration the scalability of the product.
Remember: an MVP should serve as a base to iterate from based on customer feedback
Since we don’t have to re-invent the wheel for these widespread product-recurring features (ex. payment-processing, user authentication, data-visualisation etc.), we can focus on delivering great user experience and launching the product fast.

  • Define product goals and requirements together with the founders
  • Time box product launch - based on how feature-heavy the founders of the startup want the MVP to be. (we usually time box between 60 - 90 days)
  • Trim the Specs Sheet - trim down the features list in order to fit into the time box
  • Create MVP Software Architecture - the MVP needs to be launched ASAP but also needs to serve as a base to iterate from, so product scalability needs to be taken into consideration when architecting the product
  • Design the MVP wireframes, user experience and screens based on the Software Architecture & Specs Sheet

Long-term
Partnership

Launching your MVP is only the first-step of a multi-year journey where the goal destination is a successful exit. The path to that destination is littered with a lot of uncertainties and challenges, and that is why having a strategic technical partner like Exelerate which specialises in these kind of ventures is invaluable.
